What would you do when a simple day of flying turns into a race against the clock? That’s the challenge in the latest VFR Mastery scenario from PilotWorkshops, “Iconic Adventure.”

You’re flying an Icon A5 with a friend for a day of splash-and-dash flying when you meet some fellow pilots flying an XCub. You decide to swap passengers, but an unexpected problem leaves the XCub stranded on the runway—the same runway you were supposed to be using. Meanwhile, civil twilight is rapidly approaching which is a deadline that has legal consequences.

Learn by making decisions

“Iconic Adventure” is part of VFR Mastery, PilotWorkshops’ monthly series of scenario-based training designed to sharpen real-world decision-making skills.

Each month, you’ll step into the pilot’s seat and work through a realistic flying challenge. After reviewing the available information, you’ll choose a course of action, compare your thinking with other pilots, and then learn from experienced instructors as they explain their reasoning.

The lessons go beyond regulations and procedures, focusing on the judgment and risk-management skills that often make the difference in real-world flying.

More scenarios available

A VFR Mastery subscription includes a new scenario every month plus access to an extensive library of existing scenarios covering weather, airspace, aircraft systems, airport operations, emergencies, and much more. Whether you’re a newly certificated pilot or a seasoned aviator, it’s an engaging way to stay proficient and keep your head in the game between flights.
